Every once in a while..

They move us to tears, every once in a while
Parents depart, but never actually leave
They return in dreams and fragrant thoughts,
To be with us, talk to us, linger for a while.
The lessons we learnt show us the path
They continue to guide and help us guide ours
And move us to tears, every once in a while

Their values and their faith runs deep
In our veins, and manifest in our daily life.
The world that our children live and breathe
Is thus patterned with the thoughts
Of our parents; our mothers and fathers.
Thus do they mould our kids from beyond the veil
And move us to tears every once in a while

When moments arise, as they always do,
When facing our child, in distress or pain
We ask ourselves, what would they have done.
Our thoughts and actions are therefore fashioned
From the self same fabric that stitched our life
And move us to tears every once in a while.
