Memories that haunt and revive (1/3)

The speed meter
Of my cycle is broken
Parked or moving
It remains static

From infancy to adulthood
The immovable constant
Was the love and guidance
Of mum and dad

Today, bereft of their presence
In the midst of rapid changes
The meter of my cycle
Remain unrepaired.
Constant.

Memories that haunt and revive (2/3)

Under 6 different names
He penned his articles.
Till midnight in a cafe
He earned his daily bread.

Daily at office, then
T- shirts for tourists,
Sold skipjack in the market,
He toiled and he sweated.

Never really saw him relaxed

But he was a fun loving
Outgoing man

Memories that haunt and revive (3/3)

A replaced heart valve
And chronic osteoarthritis
Laid him low
Early in life

Trimmed & groomed
Joy in his heart
He faced each day
Hungry for life

While largely immobile
He worried, fretted
Supervised & queried
None left for chance

You get to miss
Only what had left you by
